Description

The Certificate I in Wider Opportunities for Work (WOW) has been designed as a preparatory qualification with a focus on the development of work related skills. It is aimed at enhancing the learner’s job-readiness, and offers pathways into further education and training at Certificate II and III levels, as well as potential outcomes in community participation. The qualification may be contextualised and customised to suit different learner target groups and focus areas.

The Certificate I in Wider Opportunities for Work (WOW) aims to provide training that focuses on a wide range of educational outcomes including skills in:
- Career planning
- Personal computer and internet
- Basic maths
- Communication
- Problem solving
- Team work

Schedule
Learners must complete four (4) core units listed below, plus up to 190 hours of elective units to be awarded the qualification Certificate I in Wider Opportunities for Work (WOW).
1. Core units

Four (4) core units to be completed, including either Work Practice 2 (81358) or Community Based Project (81359

2. Elective units

There are two (2) options that can be chosen regarding elective units.

Option 1
Any industry/vocational Certificate I qualification from a Training Package or Accredited Course (maximum of 190 hours).

Option 2
Any combination of the following electives to a maximum of 190 hours:

- The importation of units from any Accredited Course or Endorsed Training Package at Certificate I level.

- The importation of units from any Accredited Course or Endorsed Training Package at Certificate II level. (maximum of 50 hours)

Please note that LGACORE102B Follow defined OHS policies and procedures can be substituted for any other appropriate OHS unit.
