Description
To provide the learner with the skills and knowledge to be able to:

Describe the structure, operation and importance of the Australian
tourism industry.

Conduct a tour in a professional manner demonstrating the principles
of good customer relations and interpersonal skills while applying health and
safety practices and procedures.

Research, prepare and deliver concise, accurate and culturally
sensitive tour commentaries.

Apply minimal impact techniques to the conduct of a tour.

Acknowledge and incorporate the perspective of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander people into tour guiding activities.

Impart knowledge on flora, fauna, land, ecology and related areas in
an accurate and culturally sensitive manner.

Training providers who wish to deliver this program must obtain written
approval from the Northern Territory Employment and Training Authority and be
registered by their State accrediting body.
2. The proponent for this course is the NT Tourism Industry Training
Council Inc. The course was originally accredited by the Accreditation and
Advisory Council of the Northern Territory Employment and Training Authority
from 1/1/95 - 31/12/99. It has been placed on the National Register as code
2024.
