Description

The Certificate IV in Studio Ceramics provides initial training for individuals who wish to pursue careers in studio ceramics. Studio
skills are developed through direct investigation of techniques and materials, which form an essential component of the student's learning experience. Research and observation, experimentation and evaluation lead to the acquisition of valuable skills in key areas of
contemporary visual art practice.

Core modules in Drawing, History of Ceramics and Design encourage students to develop skills of critical exploration and speculative thinking
about current and historical issues in ceramics, art, craft and architecture. Students learn to participate in discussion, articulate their responses to a range of ceramics and art practices, and to examine their own work and ideas within a wider cultural framework. Links between studio practice, technology and ideas are a feature of the course structure.
