Description

To provide participants with the skills, knowledge and opportunities to be able
to:

-derive enjoyment from learning and to organise themselves for study as a
life-long pursuit

-challenge old ideas about how they learn, reframe notions of learning and
develop practical strategies to understand themselves better as learners to be
able to take control of their own learning

-incorporate the key competencies and develop techniques to encourage
themselves and others to make meaning out of information and share experiences

-develop and apply learning techniques to increase speed at which skills can be
developed and information acquired

-develop techniques to learn through experience, involvement and enterprise
using initiative and resourcefulness to manage "real life projects" which have
been tailored to achieve specific outcomes

-foster an awareness of the concept and nurture the notion of participants as
tutors as well as learners, developing a willingness and an ability for
constantly engaging in effective communication, critical thinking,
collaborative behaviour and values clarification

-analyse learning styles and techniques to foster the continued development and
application of the underpinning skills and knowledge or key competencies
required to support the achievement of competency- based learning and
management outcomes

-apply a range of processes and techniques to achieve appropriate outcomes for
specific problem solving or research tasks

-develop positive approaches which continually challenge assumptions, goals,
norms and procedures.
