Provide students with the skills and knowledge to:
Interpret the information on a navigational chart.
Determine the variation and deviation of a compass for a particular location and ship's heading.
Plot the position of the vessel on a naviational chart using combinations of position lines froma variety of navigational instruments and aids.
Plan a safe route for a vessel to follow to conduc t coastal voyage.
Determine the times and heights of high and low water at Australian Ports listed in the National Tide Tables.
