Description
This unit is concerned to orient
students to the most basic range of
skills used by the beginning welfare
practitioner. Students will be concerned with the integration of
theoretical material provided in Welfare Practice 2A while carrying out such
tasks as assessment of client need and agency or resource suitability,
interpreting agency policy practice and procedure to clients, interviewing
clients, otherwise assisting clients. Students will be expected to carry out
these tasks with due respect to ethical standards such as confidentiality and
self-determination. At the same time they will be expected to work with other
professionals and to the community. Beginning communication skills with
agencies and the wider community will emerge and students should show some
grasp of how the welfare system changes and can be changed.
