To provide the learner with the skills to perform common procedures and
analyses in a food-based microbiological laboratory.

Range of Variables
This module has the capacity to be delivered in part on-the-job.
The module has a significant practical component. Theory could be provided in
formal lectures, followed by intensive individual practical work. Learning
activities will be structured to promote team work and will require
organisation of the tasks for maximum efficiency of team time.
In this module, learners will perform procedures which have several steps that
need to be closely monitored by the teacher to ensure no error carryover.
To allow for assimilation of information, the module should be offered over a
minimum of 9 weeks.
