Internal Assessment 100%

Students are assessed on a PASS/FAIL basis.

Students must complete 152 hours of fieldwork
placement before being eligible for assessment. A
fieldwork manual specifies criteria to be used by
agency supervisors to assess the student's
performance.

The TAFE staff is responsible for the student's final assessment.

Internal Assessment 100%

Prior to placement, orientation tutorials are held
and students may attend support tutorials during
placement.

Whilst on placement students are required to initiate and conduct at least
three activities. These must be appropriate to the developmental needs of the
client group and appropriate in format to the particular care setting. These
are evaluated by TAFE staff and/or agency supervisor.

Students are also required to devise and maintain a
journal throughout placement recording such detail
as: rostered hours of duty, time and travel,
expenses incurred, activities conducted and self-
evaluation of performance, noteworthy events
observed and feelings experienced by such events.

A fieldwork manual specifies the criteria to be used
by agency supervisors to assess the student's
overall performance. Liaison by TAFE staff with
students on placement serves to clarify the adequacy
of the student's final assessment.

A failed placement by be repeated, the repeat
placement must be in the same/similar care setting
and this is at the discretion of the TAFE staff. A
second failure will constitute a fail in the course.
