Assessment is to be carried out on a
continual basis during the semester by
means of:
- observation of student performance. (suggest topics 1.1,
1.4, 1.5, 2.3, 2.5, 2.6, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 4.2, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6, 5.1, 5.3,
5.4, 5.5, 6.2, 6.3, 7.2, 7.3)
- written work reports. (suggest topics 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2,
2.4, 3.1, 4.1, 4.3, 5.2, 6.1, 6.4, 7.1).
Student grading will be according to the following
criteria:
- To achieve the minimum pass grade (50%) the student must
satisfactorily complete all of the essential objectives 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4,
1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 4.1, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 5.1, 5.2,
6.1, 6.4, 7.1
- In the event of student failure to complete all of the
essential objectives a mark will be calculated according to the following
formula:
- The number of essential objectives achieved will be
divided by the number of essential objectives possible to form a fraction and
this will be multiplied by 50 to give a percentage mark.
e.g.:
20 achieved x 50 = 45% 22 possible
- In the event of a student achieving the required number of
essential objectives a mark will be calculated according to the following
formula:
- To the 50% bare pass a further mark will be added, and
this mark will be calculated by dividing the number of non-essential objectives
achieved by the number of non-essential objectives possible (2.5, 2.6, 3.2,
3.6, 4.6, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 6.2, 6.3, 7.2, 7.3) to give a fraction which will be
multiplied by 50 to give an additional score.
e.g.:
9 achieved x 50 = 38% 12 possible
pass mark = 50%
extra mark = 38%
total mark = 88%
