To further develop the student's
understanding and skills in play
facilitation and spontaneity training,
especially in adventurous and
challenging play.
To assist the student to develop skills
in creating an effective group,
modifying leadership according to the
needs of the group and stimulating
interaction between group members.

One hour test on groupwork theory
consisting of objective and
short-answer type questions 5%
Resource File - continuation. Include
items on play
activities relevant to topics
covered 20%
Assignment 40%
One project write-up on groupwork
implementation in a Centre, either on
leading a group of children in making a
decision, a rule-making meeting with
children or dealing with potential
problems in a team 20%
Practical Assessment 35%
The practical mark is an assessment of
the student's attitude, involvement and
aptitude displayed in roleplay,
experiential exercises and supervised
observation throughout the class.
Practical sessions will consist of
students carrying out the listed
practical objectives to reinforce the
lesson material. Evaluation of student
performance will be a guide to the
effectiveness of the lesson programme.
Students' achievement of their
practical assessment will be recorded
on checklists of student objectives.
Guidelines for the assessment of
practical sessions:
- provision of warm-ups and closures
- level of spontaneity/playfulness
- ability to facilitate spontaneity in others
- group communication skills
- application of principles of teamwork and groupwork.
