Description
To develop a knowledge of standard
boating safety techniques and
practices, so as to bring the boating
public to a common level of knowledge,
regarding safety when afloat.

To enable the successful student to
apply for the Certificate of
Proficiency in Small Pleasure Vessel
Safety, which is awarded by the
Department of Marine and Harbours (WA).

Internal Assessment 100%

Examination 50%

A one-hour written examination,
consisting of three parts of equal
weighting:

Collision Regulation

A pass mark of 80% is required.

General Knowledge

A pass mark of 70% is required.

Specific Knowledge

A pass mark of 60% is required.

Practical 70%

A one-hour test, demonstrating
practical knowledge of aspects, covered
in Topics 18 to 24. A pass mark of 70%
is required.

NOTE: Students must
pass both the Examination and Practical
components, if they wish to obtain the
Department of Marine and Harbours
Certificate.
