Description
To provide learners with a basic understanding of the Industrial Relations
practices of Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, United States, United
Kingdom and Germany.

Range of Variables
1 This is a course which can be altered to meet the needs of the
learners without materially affecting the course:
- The lecturer will cover the Industrial Relations in the countries
shown in the syllabus, allowing 2x2 hours per country.
- If learners are in the class from countries other than the six shown
they will still be required to present the main assignment on their country.
For example a Malaysian learner would discuss Malaysian Industrial Relations.
2 Because of possible language difficulties learners will not present
their major assignments to the group. Copies will be made and distributed.
3 The intention is that this unit would be offered to overseas learners
in lieu of Managing Operation - Workplace Practice which is irrelevant to them.
4 Despite (3) there is no reason why it could not be offered as an
elective for Australian learners.

Learners will be required to examine Industrial Relations in their own
countries with particular reference to:
- history
- current laws, procedures and practices
- future changes 70 marks
2 Topics
5 topics for discussion worth 2 marks each 10 marks
3 In Class Test
Covering Learning Outcomes 1 and 2 20 marks
The topics will cover a range of generalised subjects where learners’ own
opinions will be as important as the law and procedures in their own countries.
Learners must be competent in all three assessment areas to be judged competent
in the module.
Assessment will be carried out in the following ways:
