Description
To enable learners to identify the common plant parts of a selection of named
production plants and weeds.
To enable learners to describe the main plant processes in terms of the quality
of produce from production plants.

Range of Variables
Delivery to take place in a classroom or suitable workplace with ready access
to production areas and gardens on or off the site to provide plant specimens
for observation and examination. Production plants or their produce should be
used wherever possible for examples.
Some plants will need to be specially prepared for Learning Outcome 5.
To allow credible competency-based training and assessment the class size MUST
NOT exceed fifteen learners.

This subject is to be assessed internally using competence as a measure of
learner achievement.
The learner is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.
Assessment will be based on an appropriate selection of the following methods:
-workbook exercises
-exercises on identification of plant parts
-practical tests on plant parts and identification of plants
-oral and/or written tests
