Description
To install the student into a real work situation
within an approved worksite of an industrial
establishment for up to one day per week.
To provide the student with the opportunity to
participate in the day-to-day procedures of
programming and/or analysis projects.

Site Supervisor's Assessment 30%
A proforma completed by the site supervisor will be
used to assess the student on the criteria:
Attitude, participation, application and
achievement.
Student Report 70%
A written report is to describe in depth:
- the type and scope of work performed
- the personnel categories and associated tasks in the
immediate environment of the worksite
- some detail of the work undertaken at the site and its
usefulness to the company or department
- how and where the work undertaken relates to or differs
from the content of formal course work.
The report is to be presented:
(i) orally in summary form to a group of peers and lecturers (suggested
duration 30-60 minutes)
(ii) and then to the senior lecturer in charge of computing at the
College at which the enrolment takes place.
NOTE:
1 Passes (meaning half marks or better) are required in:
- the Site Supervisor's Report AND
- the Report (oral and written, jointly) for a pass to be
granted in this subject.
2 Persons employed in the Computing industry may apply for exemption
from attendance for this subject.
Such exemption will be considered in cases
where:
a) the applicant has accrued the equivalent of at least 6 months of
full-time employment, and
b) the applicant can demonstrate that the duties performed relate to the
field of programming.
Where an exemption from attendance is
granted, the applicant will still have to
satisfy the assessment details for the
Student Report, and do so at the
convenience of the College at which the
enrolment takes place.
