Description
To provide the learner with the knowledge and skills in the operation and
maintenance of high temperature emission spectrophotometers. Instruments
covered in this module may include arc and spark emission spectrophotometers,
and inductively coupled plasma emission spectrophotometers. Other less common
high temperature sources may be covered according to local need.

Range of Variables
This module may be delivered on or off-the-job. It can be delivered in either
full-time learner, part-time learner or block release mode. Regardless of
delivery mode the maximum time taken to complete this module should be no less
than 9 weeks.
For full-time learners, the module should be delivered over a single semester.
Educational delivery should be paced such that theory and laboratory work are
integrated. Laboratory sessions should be at least two hours in length.
Additional time should be allocated by learners for report writing, assignment
and general revision. This will vary according to the ability and prior skills
of the learner.
For part-time learners, delivery should be conducted using educational delivery
strategies similar to those suggested for full-time learners.
Learners with concurrent relevant workplace experience should be considered for
recognition of prior learning,
