To provide the learner with the concepts and principles that explain the nature
of chemical and nuclear reactions.

Range of Variables
This module is to be delivered off-the-job. It could be delivered in either
full-time learner or block release mode.
For full-time learners, the module hours should ideally be sequenced over a
semester period in conjunction with Non-Instrumental Analysis and Physical
Chemistry modules to ensure integration of related chemical and laboratory
skills. The modules should be paced so that theory and laboratory work are
linked to create both reinforcement and relevance of chemical principles.
Additional time should be allocated by learners for report writing, assignment
and general revision. This will vary according to the ability and prior
competence of the learner.
Delivery in block release mode should be over a minimum nine week period, with
similar integration of theory and practical as proposed in the full-time
learning mode.
