To enable the learner to give a working knowledge of local government’s
engineering services and responsibilities, and the planning process with
particular reference to sub-division development.
To give a competence in the design of an urban, residential sub-division,
excluding stormwater drainage, sewerage and water supply which are covered by
other modules namely, 41443 CE Stormwater Drainage 1 and 41444 CE Water
Engineering 1.

Range of Variables
For consolidation, the material in this unit should be linked with, and be
complemented by, relevant on-the-job skill practice or other equivalent
experience, eg. extended subject time offered by a college on a weekly basis.
This module contains learning outcomes that require theory instruction under
standard classroom conditions. The theory component will be assessed at the
end of the instructional period when learners are required to sit for a closed
book theory test, and also by project work throughout the module.
Suggested time allocation for each learning outcome including testing:
