Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit
- Present a completed repertoire book to industry standard
- Analyse own work for professional skill development
- Present three repertoire pieces to a professional standard demonstrating:
- Consistent and believable character
- advanced vocal technique
- justified movement and staging.
Context of and specific resources for assessment
The following examples provide assessment conditions appropriate for this unit:
- peer/3rd party reports of simulated performance
- evaluation of practice or live or recorded performances
- verbal or written questioning to test knowledge as listed in the required skills and knowledge section of this unit
- direct observation of candidate practising and performing singing skills specific to musical theatre.
Method of assessment
Assessment methods should closely reflect workplace performance demands as far as possible. Where real live performance opportunities are not available simulated performance can be offered. It is important for assessment that delivery of the unit offers several opportunities for performance of musical theatre song repertoire at a professional level.
