Description
To enable learners to plan, deliver, evaluate and assess training sessions in
the workplace on a one-to-one or small group basis.
This module is designed for people who provide training and assessment in the
workplace but for whom the training function is not a major part of their job.
Category 1 workplace trainers provide informal, structured training.
This module covers all of the learning outcomes contained in the National Staff
Development Committee of the Australian National Training Authority, 1995
Course in Workplace Training (Category 1) plus an additional learning outcome
covering assessment where assessment criteria and instruments have already been
devised.

Range of Variables
Delivery will take place in a conducive learning environment. Strategies
should be selected to reflect the nature of the learning outcomes and the needs
of the learners. Some areas of content may be common to more than one learning
outcome and therefore integration may be appropriate.
The most appropriate method of training will be face-to-face or individual
instruction by demonstrations provided by trainers or drilling supervisors
competent in terms of drilling experience and workplace competency-based
training standards category 1.
The main focus of this course is the learning outcomes of these experiences and
not the how, when or where the learning occurred. Some people entering the
course may already be competent in one or more of the learning outcomes and
should therefore be given the opportunity to apply for recognition of prior
learning obtained through:
