Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to ensure compliance with Australian and international legislative requirements applying to the operation of a shipping organisation or port. It provides candidates with the knowledge of the legal framework within which a shipping organisation operates, and provides an outline of the business and legal aspects required for the efficient operation of a company.

It includes the interpretation of relevant maritime legislation, and the application of international conventions, protocols and codes. It includes the monitoring of legislative requirements to comply with regional and local government jurisdiction, state, national and international trade laws and risk management requirements
