Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required by EAL learners who have little or no formal education to read short, highly familiar, factual digital and/or paper-based texts including directions or instructions, and to copy highly familiar factual information for immediate personal needs.
The outcomes described in this unit relate to:
- the Australian Core Skill Framework (ACSF). They partly contribute to the achievement of ACSF indicators of competence for Reading and Writing at Pre Level 1 and Level 1
and
- the ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings) descriptors for Reading and Writing. They contribute partly to the achievement of Reading 1 and Writing 1.
This unit applies to learners who need to develop basic reading and writing skills in English to satisfy immediate personal needs in familiar highly predictable contexts
No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
