To provide the learner with basic skills identifying and cultivating a
selection of flowering plants and indoor plants most likely to be used by
florists.

This subject is to be assessed internally using competence as a measure of the
learner’s achievement.
The learner is required to demonstrate competency in each of the learning
outcomes in line with the assessment method shown.
Assessment will be based on an appropriate selection of the following methods:
- oral and/or written identification tests
- oral and or written tests on environmental and cultural requirements
and use
- demonstration of the practical skills required
- assignment - report on one location open to the public which utilises
indoor plants for display purposes
- excursion reports
- project: - report on a cut flower chosen from the core
list
- perform different methods of vase life treatments and record
observations over a period of days
The assignment and the project must be completed to a competent standard to
meet the competencies for the subject.
