Description
This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to practice asbestos awareness on a building site in compliance with all relevant work health and safety (WHS), and Commonwealth and state or territory legislation.

It includes and integration of critical identification and asbestos reporting procedures that apply to construction worksites. It is applicable to all construction workers who are working on a building site that may contain asbestos containing materials (ACMs).

This unit does not cover skills and knowledge which may be required to undertake specific tasks involving ACMs, such as disturbance of, working with, remediation of, or removal of, ACMs and/or asbestos, and most removal work also requires a license.

A person working at this level would be expected to practice and undertake routine work tasks under the direction of a more experienced worker.

No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
