Delivery will take place in a conducive learning environment. Strategies
should be selected to reflect the nature of the learning outcomes and the needs
of the learners. Some areas of content may be common to more than one learning
outcome and therefore integration may be appropriate.

The most appropriate method of training will be face-to-face or individual
instruction by demonstrations provided by trainers or drilling supervisors
competent in terms of drilling experience and workplace competency-based
training standards category 1.

The main focus of this course is the learning outcomes of these experiences and
not the how, when or where the learning occurred. Some people entering the
course may already be competent in one or more of the learning outcomes and
should therefore be given the opportunity to apply for recognition of prior
learning obtained through:

Assessment methods include:

- Practical work-based exercises
- Observation of demonstrated competencies undertaken under the
direction and guidance of a drilling supervisor.

This module is to be assessed on the worksite by a competent drilling
supervisor with workbased training and assessment experience or qualifications
using competence as a measure of achievement. Assessment should be undertaken
in an occupationally safe and healthy environment with access to relevant
sources of information, supervision and support appropriate to the conditions
and assessment criteria specified for each of the learning outcomes.
Variations consistent with the National Drilling Industry Competency Standards,
organisation’s operating procedures and relevant State/Territory legislation
should also be taken into account when assessing competencies on the worksite.
