Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to assist with producing schedules for labour, materials and equipment for projects in the building and construction industry. The unit includes reading and identifying scheduling-related information in contract documentation, and provide support to prepare for and produce project or job schedules.

This unit of competency is applied by new entrants to non-trade roles in the building and construction industry who undertake scheduling support activities in a building and construction company, or for a builder, surveyor, engineer, estimator or drafting service.

Elements and Performance Criteria
Provide support in preparation for scheduling
  • 2.6 Obtain or compile a list of approved suppliers and contractors used by the organisation for the tasks within the stages of the project
  • 2.7 Assist with confirming the availability of labour, materials and equipment with contractors and suppliers
  • 2.8 Enter key information into a project schedule as instructed by the project scheduler
Read and identify scheduling related information in contract documentation
  • 1.11 Obtain contract documents related to a building or construction project
  • 1.12 Confirm which information relates to scheduling labour, materials and equipment needed for the stages in the project
  • 1.13 Extract key information on tasks, estimated timeframes and agreed milestones
  • 1.14 Extract information on the basis to be used for estimating quantities and costs included in the contract documents
Provide support to produce schedules
  • 4.5 Assist with the preparation of an electronic call forward sheet and site files in accordance with organisational requirements
  • 4.6 Electronically record the stages of the project and the associated tasks, set milestones, and commencement and completion timeframes as instructed
  • 4.7 Record itemised materials, equipment and labour required for the stages of construction and cross-check with information in the contract documents
  • 4.8 Assist with sequencing material and equipment delivery dates and commencement times for labour as instructed by the scheduler
  • 4.9 Confirm the organisational process for factoring in unplanned delays
  • 4.10 Assist with finalising schedules and site documentation as instructed
  • 4.11 Prepare cost analysis document for ongoing monitoring of project costs against estimated costs, and identify maintenance requirements for project files in accordance with organisational requirements
