Description
Develop an understanding of the
fundamentals of elementary calculus.

To give the student an appreciation of
the relevance of calculus to a variety
of situations and disciplines, by
emphasizing applications.

To develop an awareness that
mathematics is an organized body of
knowledge.

To develop in the students, confidence in their ability to use mathematics
effectively.

To develop in the student the ability
to communicate effectively in the
language of mathematics.

To pass in this subject students must
gain at least 40% in both the internal
assessment and examination component as
well as an aggregate mark of at least
50%.

Marks cannot be carried over to subsequent semesters except in the case of a
deferred examination.

A test/assignment schedule could take

Test 2: A one hour test on topics
1-5, 10 marks with emphasis on latter topics

with emphasis on latter topics

One 2 hour examination
