Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required by EAL learners to participate in simple conversations and discussions on everyday topics, and to engage in routine transactions related to personal consumption of goods and services.
The outcomes described in this unit relate to:
- the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). They contribute directly to the achievement of ACSF indicators of competence in Oral Communication at Level 2
and
- the ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings) descriptors for Speaking and Listening. They contribute directly to the achievement of ISLPR Speaking 2 and Listening 2.
This unit applies to participants wishing to develop speaking and listening skills in English to satisfy simple social and transactional needs in generally familiar contexts such as shopping, transport, work, community, and school / college and also in communication with people outside of their immediate circle.
No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
