Description
To develop in the student:

- an interest in and an awareness of, the basic principles
of physics, particularly in relation to their application in engineering and
industrial situations;

- facility in the use of the:
- language of physics;
- simple apparatus used for demonstrating the above
principles;
- the ability to write concise, accurate technical reports
based on laboratory results.

One 3 hour written paper 70%
Laboratory 30%

A minimum of three laboratory reports to be written
up as formal technical reports in line with the
standard report writing procedures of the study
area. Laboratory work to be structured around the major topics as
outlined in the student objectives.

Pass is required in both examination and laboratory
work.
Laboratory assessment may be carried forward one year.
