Description
To provide the learner with the theoretical knowledge needed to operate, and
undertake limited analysis upon the electrical equipment and systems on board
any modern merchant ship, as the Chief Engineer Officer of that ship.

Range of Variables
This module is to be taught in a classroom with access to a complete range of
audio visual presentation equipment. Practical demonstration equipment capable
of being used by the instructor to illustrate points, and subsequently by the
learners to reinforce points, must be available.
Use of a practical demonstration laboratory/workshop and/or simulator is
required for a range of practical experimentation to back up classroom
learning. Such practical work may be undertaken through either traditional
laboratory type experimentation or by the use of suitable simulation, where
this is available.
The teaching method used will be modified lecture, integrated theory/practical
as well as both reactive and proactive demonstration.
