Description
To provide learner Enrolled Nurses with the knowledge required to meet the
specific needs of clients requiring surgery, and an understanding of relevant
patho-physiology.

To provide learners with a knowledge of the concepts and basic principles of
maternity and paediatric nursing.

This module will be most effectively delivered in a classroom environment.

Internal and External Assessment

This module is to be assessed internally and by external examination using
competence to complete each concept, as a measure of learner achievement.

Internal Assessment

Two classroom tests on Topics 1-5 40%
The learner is required to achieve a score of at least
50% in these two tests.

One classroom test on Topic 6 (Medication Calculations) 20%
The learner is required to achieve a score of at least
100% competency.
One re-test is available.

External Assessment
Examination (2 hour paper) 40%
The learner is required to achieve a score of at least
50% in this exam.
