Description
To enable learners to interpret and use SAA Concrete Structures Code and CIA
Reinforced Concrete Detailing manual, to prepare reinforced concrete drawings,
bar schedules and calculate steel quantities, using manual drafting and/or
computer aided drafting techniques.
Range of Variables
This module contains learning outcomes that require theory instruction under
standard drawing room conditions and practical instruction. The theory
component will be assessed at the end of the instructional period when learners
are required to sit for a closed book theory test.

The practical component will be assessed by appropriate drawing assignments.
It is necessary to pass individually the practical component and the theory
component to pass the module.

Drafting Projects:

To adequately develop skills to satisfy the criteria for each learning outcome,
four drafting projects need to be completed, incorporating the various aspects
covered under the learning outcomes. The projects should involve the
preparation of reinforced concrete drawings in accordance with accepted
practice as outlined in AS1100.501.
