Description
Dressmaking Techniques 1 is an introductory unit in
the Certificate in Commercial Dressmaking and is
designed to enable students to:
- use a domestic sewing machine.
- apply the construction techniques involved in making
simple garments.
- learn the fundamentals of garment design.

Internal Assessment 100%
The student will produce the following adult
garments which must be cut out in class, and 50% of
the work done under the lecturer's supervision:
- a skirt incorporating a zip, waistband and pressed
pleats. 30%
- a simple blouse with two-way convertible collar and set-in
sleeves. 30%
A sample file being a comprehensive record of
samples of all required processes. 40%
Students must record a pass in file as well as
garments.
