This unit describes limited mathematical skills and knowledge required to apply numeracy skills in simple, highly familiar contexts in everyday tasks.

The unit of competency is applied by individuals who use practical numeracy skills for work, training and/or personal purposes.

This unit targets Numeracy at ACSF Level 1.

Elements and Performance Criteria
Use whole number values into the 100s and halves
  • 1.1 Recognise whole numbers and money into the 100s, and halves
  • 1.2 Identify place value for ones, tens, hundreds and halves
  • 1.3 Compare whole numbers and money into the 100s, and halves
  • 1.4 Determines the value of Australian currency amounts up to $1000 including notes and coins
  • 1.5 Compares the value of Australian currency amounts up to $1000 including notes and coins
Calculate whole number amounts and quantities into the 100s
  • 2.1 Add whole numbers up to a total of 1000 or less (with carrying)
  • 2.2 Subtract a whole number from a total of 1000 or less (with borrowing)
  • 2.3 Add simple quantities up to a total of 1000 or less (with carrying)
  • 2.4 Subtract a simple quantity from a three-digit whole dollar amount (with borrowing)
Use familiar 2D objects and shapes
