Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to research, interpret and apply good practice in environmental responsibility to building and construction processes and practices. It includes determining the need for environmentally responsible building and construction, the main factors that influence thermal performance, effective solutions to reduce operational energy, the principles for sustainable use of water resources in order to contribute to environmentally responsible solutions.

This is a knowledge-based unit of competency which is applied by new entrants to non-trade roles in the building and construction industry who apply sustainability principles to assess basic energy features of proposed building plans in order to contribute to suggestions for improvements.
