Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and copy highly familiar and personally relevant words and to develop basic letter-sound knowledge in real adult reading and writing contexts.

The unit of competency is applied by individuals who engage with and create extremely concrete, short and simple texts for personal, work or educational purposes.

This unit targets Reading and Writing at ACSF Pre level 1A.

Begins to read personally relevant names
  • 1.1 Recognise own name in sentence case
  • 1.2 Recognise own name in capital letters
  • 1.3 Recognise familiar, personally relevant names in sentence case
  • 1.4 Recognise familiar, personally relevant names in capital letters
Begins to write personally relevant names
  • 2.1 Copy own name using mainly sentence case
  • 2.2 Copy own name using mainly capital letters
  • 2.3 Copy familiar, personally relevant names using mainly sentence case
  • 2.4 Copy familiar, personally relevant names using mainly capital letters
  • 2.5 Copy letters of the alphabet in upper and lower case
