Description
To use a thematic approach as a way of understanding
and interpreting art works.
To look at the varied approaches, both in techniques
and spatial contexts, of different periods,
movements, artists and, in particular, Australian
artists linked by the common theme of landscape and
the human presence.
To encourage gallery visiting when possible, so as
to expose students to originals rather than slide on
reproduction.
To reinforce the visual language, particularly spatial concepts.
To show the impact of modernism on Australian art,
within the reference of the landscape theme.
To increase visual literacy.
