Description
To assist the student in a chosen area of employment
or studies in engineering, by improving general
engineering knowledge of:

- the processes more commonly used in the production of
fabricated structures and components.
- the stages which may be gone through in the production of
a fabricated item, from the drawing stage to its final installation.

To give the student as much exposure to actual usage
of machinery and processes in the fabrication
workshop as is practical.

To give the student some knowledge of the
limitations and capabilities of fabrication
production processes and machinery, so that this may
be helpful in the detailed drawing of components.

Evidence Guide
Internal Assessment 100%

Project work 70%
Class assessment 30%

of and familiarisation with all fundamental metal
fabrication equipment, preferably involving smaller
more varied projects than a major project. Projects
set will be limited to the equipment capabilities at
the College.

principles particularly safety as outlined in the
student objectives.
