Description
This course is planned for foreign speakers of
English who are experiencing difficulty with their
studies or who are prevented from joining a
Department of TAFE course because of inadequate
language skills. It is based largely on recent
research by S. Pit-Corder and H.G. Widdowson in the
UK and L.G. Selinker, Burt and Kiparsky in the USA.
The Course is designed to be interwoven with English
1K, the combination of appropriate sections of each
course, to suit individual needs, ensuring that all
problem areas are covered.
Starting from the level reached by the Migrant
English classes, it provides the specialised tuition
needed by foreign students up to the standard
required for effective participation in
Communication 1 classes.
Attention is drawn to Section 6.0, which deals with
English for Special Purposes : Science and
Technology.
