Description
To introduce students to the identification,
cultivation, production and marketing of a wide
range of fruit crops in Western Australia.
To develop a range of practical skills necessary to
produce fruit crops to industry standards.
To develop an ability to evaluate the economic,
climatic and environment constraints, which need to
be considered in establishing a viable fruit
production enterprise.
To introduce students to the techniques and
principles used in fruit research.
To investigate the machinery and equipment required
to produce and handle fruit production in Western
Australia.
To become aware of information sources on fruit production.

One two-hour Divisional examination 30%
Internal Assessment 70%
A pass must be gained in BOTH components
to achieve an overall pass.
Final Examination
The two-hour Divisional examination will consist of:
- Multiple choice or True/False questions
- Short (one to two sentences) answer items
- Short essay (one to three paragraphs) answer
items 40%
Internal Assessment
The internal assessment will be divided as follows:
- Internal tests (minimum two)
- Excursion reporting
- Practical exercises participation
- Assignment 1 and Assignment 2 Case Studies based on
cultivation of a fruit crop 60%
NOTE: Assignment 1 and 2 must be on
different fruit crops (evergreen/deciduous).
