Description
This qualification reflects the role of geographic information system (GIS) technicians who work under supervision to support a spatial information services team. They perform a range of duties using various geospatial technologies, including global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and specialised geospatial software.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of endorsement.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:- fifteen (15) units of competency:
- seven (7) core units
- eight (8) elective units.
The elective units must ensure the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome and are to be chosen as follows:
- all eight (8) units may be chosen from the elective units listed below
- up to two (2) units may be chosen from other Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma qualifications in CPP, or another current Training Package or accredited course, provided they do not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification.
