1. CORE

This qualification requires competency in THIRTEEN compulsory core units (and any associated sub-units) and a minimum of SEVEN elective units (and associated sub-units). UNIT SPLITTING Many of the Training Package units for this qualification have been split into two or more sub-units. Where splitting has occurred the first sub-units can be identified in the TITLE as "Part x of y PML YYYY xxx A (eg Part 1 of 2 PML DATA 300A plus they have no National ID code. The final sub-unit has been given the standard National ID code and the title of the Training Package Unit. The total hours of all the sub-units is equivalent to the hours assigned for the whole unit in the WA Implementation Kit. A student must be assessed as competent in ALL the related sub-units before achieving competency in the final sub-unit. Sub-units may be assessed sequentially or concurrently. 2. ELECTIVES

For the Diploma of Laboratory Technology, with no specialisation, candidates must achieve a total of twenty (20) units of competency. In addition to achieving the thirteen (13) compulsory core units listed for all Diplomas, they must achieve a further seven (7) units as follows: Diplomas with defined specialisation streams are available by selecting certain combinations of elective units. 1. This qualification is a representation of the qualification PML50199
taken from the Laboratory
Operation Training Package which should be consulted for full
descriptions of its requirements.
PML50199 is accredited until 30/11/2002. Refer to the WA
Implementation Kit which is the source
of WA funded hours and other WA specific instructions.

2. The above model training program is a summary of the qualification
PML 50199 and the total hours
will vary according to the choice of electives.

Training Authority. RTOs who
