9 Fishing Operations Qualification Stream Core Units (Group 2) plus
8 Elective Units of which a minimum of 5 must be selected from the Fishing
Operations Qualification Stream Work Options Elective Units (Group 3) (at least
1 of these 5 Elective Units must come from within the Fishing Option).

The other 3 Elective Units can be selected from the Fishing Operations
Qualification Stream Work Options Elective Units (Group 3) and/or from the list
of General Elective Units (Group 4). Of these 3 Elective Units; 1 Elective Unit
can be selected from S174 Certificate III in Seafood Industry (Fishing
Operations) and 1 Elective Unit from S176 Diploma of Seafood Industry (Fishing
Operations).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS = 21 UNITS

LICENCES
The issuing of Certificates of Competency (licences) for vessel operations and
maintenance is the responsibility of the relevant Regulatory Authority in each
State/Territory. Regulatory Authorities may set additional requirements to teh
units listed in the various Options for particular Certificates of Competency
such as sea time. Registered Training Organisation (RTOs) awarding this
qualification do not issue Certificates of Competency.

Individuals seking recognition as a SKIPPER2 must select and attain all units
listed under the Skipper 2 Option (Group 3) as well as unit listed in Fishing
Operations Qualification Stream Core Units (Group 2).

Individuals seeking recognition as a MARINE ENGINE DRIVER (MEDI) must select
and attain all units listed under the MED1 Option (Group 3) as well as units
listed in Fishing Operations Qualification Stream Core Units (Group 2).


This training program is a representation of the of the qualification SFI40200
taken from the Seafood Industry Training Package SFI00 which should be
consulted for full description of requirements. SFI00 is accredited until
31/01/2003.
