Description
This qualification reflects the roles of air crew personnel performing normal and emergency airborne duties in support of aviation operations.
Air crew duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge within rotary or fixed wing operational environments.
Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and limited responsibility in known or changing contexts within established parameters.
This qualification provides fundamental knowledge and skills required of air crew performing task specialist or other aerial work operations as defined in Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASR).
Civil and military flight crew seeking authorisation for aerial work operations should check these requirements with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Air Crew Member
Air Crew Officer (ACO)
Electronic Mission Coordinator
Mission Coordinator
Police, paramedics and other emergency service personnel including rappel dispatcher and winch operators.

Packaging Rules
A total of thirteen (13) units of competency comprising:- seven (7) core units listed below plus
- six (6) elective units from the elective units listed below. For rotary aircraft crew, selection must include unit AVIF0048 or its equivalent as one of their elective units.
Up to two (2) of the elective units may be selected from any relevant nationally endorsed Training Package or accredited course. The elective units must contribute to the vocational outcomes of the qualification.
The following imported unit has a prerequisite unit:
- HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
