Description
The PUA60120 Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management) is designed for personnel undertaking senior emergency management responsibilities at an organisational level. This will include the management of community programs, stakeholder engagement and the negotiation of interagency memorandums of understanding.
The role of senior personnel in the management of and planning for an incident, emergency or disaster may include undertaking senior management responsibilities for managing multi-organisational teams and activities.
This qualification includes the units of competency required by senior personnel to perform a range of activities such as working with the community and other key entities prior to, during and after an incident, emergency or disaster. This involves prevention of, preparedness for, response to and recovery from such events.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Packaging Rules
A total of fifteen (15) units of competency comprising- ten (10) core units listed below, plus
- five (5) elective units from the general elective units listed
Choose a minimum of three (3) elective units from the general elective unit list below.
Choose two (2) elective units from the elective unit list below or elsewhere within this Training Package or another endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
All elective units selected from outside this qualification must contribute to the vocational outcome of the qualification. Where imported units are selected, care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisite units specified are complied with. Prerequisites attached to any of the units must be obtained and are additional to the number of units required for this qualification.
Where a prerequisite is attached to a unit it is identified on training.gov.au (TGA).

Entry Requirements
Prior to commencing this qualification individuals must be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge to
contribute to and assist with the management of an incident, emergency or disaster
coordinate resources, personnel, entities and activities with other organisations
take personal responsibility and demonstrate autonomy in performing technical operations
make judgements required to organise self and plan, coordinate and evaluate the work of teams
These skills and knowledge may have been acquired through completion of the core units in the Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management) or relevant industry experience of no less than five years in the emergency management environment.
Traineeships and Apprenticeships
