Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply various digital printing processes and select an appropriate method for a particular job.It applies to individuals who generally work under direct supervision and use various digital printing processes working in the digital, commercial print, pre-press, bureau, high-end print or a combination of these business environments. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Identify digital processes
  • 1.1 Various digital processes used within the workplace are identified and documented
  • 1.2 Advantages or disadvantages of one process over another for a particular job are identified and a suitable option recommended
2. Assess job requirements
  • 2.1 Printing requirements of the job are determined
  • 2.2 Layout design of the job is reviewed to determine possible printing problems of using a particular process
  • 2.3 End application of the digital product is reviewed to ensure digital process will meet job specifications and enterprise standards
3. Apply digital process
  • 3.1 Digital process is selected that ensures job specifications can be met
  • 3.2 Digital process is completed in accordance job specifications and enterprise standards
  • 3.3 Job is reviewed to ensure appropriate digital process was selected based on job specifications
