Description
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to fit external items, such as corner mouldings, trunk doors, wheel spats, picnic tables and awnings, to a recreational vehicle. The work will be carried out in a recreational vehicle manufacturing facility.This unit of competency covers the preparation for, fitting of, and clean-up after the fitting of external items.The operator will be required to work to procedures, and follow plans/specifications for what is required.This unit of competency applies to an individual working alone or as part of a team/work group and working in liaison with other shift team members.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan the work
- 1.1 Review the requirements of the work
- 1.2 Check required tools and jigs are available at the worksite
- 1.3 Check required materials and components are available at the worksite
- 1.4 Identify any hazards and the related hazard controls
- 1.5 Check the hazard controls are in place and operational
- 1.6 Query any items that are different to usual and clarify requirements
2 Fit the external items in accordance with procedures
- 2.1 Use relevant hazard controls, including personal protective equipment (PPE)
- 2.2 Place the item in the required position
- 2.3 Clamp/hold item in place as required
- 2.4 Drill holes/make any penetrations required
- 2.5 Fix item as required
- 2.6 Trim as required
- 2.7 Complete fitting of items as required
3 Fit the seals in accordance with procedures
- 3.1 Use relevant hazard controls, including PPE
- 3.2 Place seals in the required position
- 3.3 Clamp/hold seals in place as required
- 3.4 Drill holes/make any penetrations required
- 3.5 Fix seal as required
- 3.6 Trim seal as required
- 3.7 Complete fitting of seal as required
4 Finish fitting the external items
- 4.1 Check items have been fitted correctly and make any required adjustments
- 4.2 Clean up recreational vehicle and work area, leaving it ready for the next job
- 4.3 Segregate and handle waste in accordance with procedures
- 4.4 Complete any required documentation/records
