This unit describes the performance outcomes required to locate, interpret and apply Australian Design Rules (ADR), original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements, Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) regulations, and Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 (VSB6) National Code of Practice - Heavy Vehicle Modifications.It applies to those working in the commercial vehicle industry, and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a specialist level.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements may apply to this unit in some jurisdictions. Users are advised to check with the relevant regulatory authority.

1. Review standards
  • 1.1 Identify heavy vehicle modification standards
  • 1.2 Interpret and apply ADR, OEM requirements, HVNL regulations, and VSB6 specifications for heavy vehicles
2. Check that vehicle complies with standards
  • 2.1 Check workplace manufacturing or modification drawings according to workplace procedures and work health and safety requirements
  • 2.2 Check standards against OEM requirements
3. Complete documentation
  • 3.1 Report non-compliance of manufacturing or modification drawing to standards to appropriate personnel for rectification according to workplace procedures
  • 3.2 Complete relevant workplace documentation according to workplace procedures
