Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to implement and monitor materiel logistics plans and associated subordinate plans in accordance with relevant organisational policy and procedures. It includes identifying requirements and implementing materiel logistics plans, and monitoring and reporting on materiel logistics plans implementation. This unit was developed for materiel logistics specialists, working in either integrated logistics support or materiel sustainment roles, in a project or sustainment office. Activities may include implementing and monitoring logistics plans, determining how the organisation would plan to support a mission system or capability from concept phase, to acquisition, transition into service, through to sustainment and disposal. This unit may be applicable to individuals in broader logistics roles.Individuals work independently or as part of a team under direct or indirect supervision, use discretion and judgement, and take responsibility for the quality of their outputs. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Identify requirements for providing materiel logistics plans
  • 1.1 Sources of information relevant to materiel logistics plans are identified and relevant information is obtained in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 1.2 Information is reviewed and documented and confirmed as current in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 1.3 Materiel logistics plans are assessed against reviewed information
2 Implement materiel logistics plans
  • 2.1 Performance indicators and other criteria for measuring achievement are developed
  • 2.2 Materiel logistics risks and impacts relevant to the plan are identified, reported and managed across the life cycle
  • 2.3 Materiel logistics plans are implemented in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 2.4 Participation and contribution to materiel logistics activities is established and maintained in accordance with agreed plans and schedule
3 Monitor and report on the implementation of materiel logistics plans
  • 3.1 Materiel logistics plans are monitored and regularly reviewed in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 3.2 Plans are amended and documented in accordance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 3.3 Performance measures are monitored to ensure they address all key aspects of organisational performance and meet stakeholder requirements
  • 3.4 Performance data is analysed on a regular and planned basis in terms of indicators and compliance with organisational policy and procedures
  • 3.5 Strategic performance is reported to all stakeholders in a transparent manner in accordance with compliance requirements
