1. Plan and prepare for the transfer of passengers and freight during helicopter operations
  • 1.1.Access, interpret and apply documentation and procedures for Assisting in the transfer of passengers and freight during helicopter operations and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2. Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3. Identify and address potential hazards, risks and environmental issues and implement control measures
  • 1.4. Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate to the work activities
  • 1.5. Resolve coordination requirements with others at the site prior to, during and on completion of work activities and ensure briefings/handover details are communicated
  • 1.6. Confirm availability and status of necessary permits to work
  • 1.7. Confirm availability of necessary auxiliary equipment
2. Prepare for helicopter landing
  • 2.1. Conform to safe working practices and operational requirements
  • 2.2. Prepare and make available, tools and equipment for safe and optimum use
  • 2.3. Assemble freight and baggage for transportation
3. Load and unload helicopter
  • 3.1. Communicate with relevant personnel before approaching the helicopter, to ensure safety of the team and passengers
  • 3.2. Provide assistance in controlling the transfer of passengers
  • 3.3. Assemble freight and baggage for transportation
4. Refuelling
  • 4.1. Provide assistance during refuelling
  • 4.2. Identify, report and record faults
  • 4.3. Store refuelling equipment properly after use
5. Carry out helicopter ‘standby’ duties
  • 5.1. Remain in a safe position on helipad
  • 5.2. Monitor landing and take off
  • 5.3. Report and record faults and implement corrective actions within functional responsibility
6. Prepare for helicopter departure
  • 6.1. Store equipment safely and securely in designated location in accordance with operational requirements
