Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to use agreed organisational enterprise architecture tools to permit the implementation of the enterprise architecture by various elements of the organisation.It includes operating software to use operational, systems and technical tools.This unit applies to those working in an enterprise architecture practice for Defence but may be applicable to anyone in this field.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit work autonomously and perform sophisticated tasks in familiar contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

1 Operate enterprise architecture software tools
  • 1.1 Select and use enterprise architecture software tools in accordance with organisational procedures
  • 1.2 Use enterprise information technology support system, as required
2 Use enterprise architecture operational tools
  • 2.1 Prepare descriptions for high-level operational concepts and operational node connectivity
  • 2.2 Prepare operational information exchange matrices
  • 2.3 Prepare and seek agreement about command relationship chart
  • 2.4 Model business activities, relationships between activities, inputs and outputs
  • 2.5 Prepare business activity sequences and timings in accordance with organisational business rules, business activity reforms and critical sequences
  • 2.6 Prepare a logical data model of business activity for stakeholder submission
3 Use enterprise architecture systems tools
  • 3.1 Prepare systems descriptions and systems technology forecast, and obtain agreement from stakeholders
  • 3.2 Develop systems matrices to meet project requirements and obtain agreement from stakeholders, as required
  • 3.3 Model systems rules for the business architecture
  • 3.4 Implement the logical data model of the business activity and undertake demonstrations to capture systems requirements, as required
4 Use enterprise architecture technical tools
  • 4.1 Create a technical systems profile, and gauge support levels required for the development of the intended system in consultation with stakeholders
  • 4.2 Develop an information technology strategy for intended systems development
  • 4.3 Derive enterprise information technology performance requirements to allow standards, configurations and products relevant to the intended systems development
  • 4.4 Create a technology standards report in accordance with operational procedures
